Our first candle and expansion of our home section
Meet Mimo and Marg. Our first candle collab with @dazey_la x @infavorof. Designed with @danidazey using her original print for package design and unique printed vessel that turns into a cup when your candle is done. Perfect printed aesthetic to match your maximal lifestyle, wether its filled with a beverage flavored candle or your favorite drink.
This is the first of hopefully many items added to our newly dedicated home section of the website, the Dazey Den.
Dani worked directly with the team at Favor to test and pour over so many scents until we got it just right. The two flavors are paired perfectly with hints of other flavors and are SO TASTY (to smell lol).
Mimo: That Sunday morning brunch euphoria has finally been preserved. Indulge in a citrusy scent of effervescence with hints of fresh cut grass, reminiscent of dewy summer mornings and champagne flutes.
Marg:
It’s the best of tropical paradise, on the rocks. Immerse yourself in the scent of salt and citrus while sweet notes of strawberry guava complete the profile. If this doesn’t make you crave a strong marg, what will?
Plus you'll have gorgeous new cups to enjoy the actual drinks from when it's done!
What Reality TV show is complete without a wedding?
I couldn't finish off this series of blog posts for the motel without including the story of mine and Phillips wedding day. The first (of many) weddings that will happen at the Trixie Motel and truly the best day of this whole wild experience that I am so thankful we were chosen to be part of.
I first need to thank all the wonderful people who helped make this day so special, including florals by Wild Muse floral, and photography by Tim Melideo. This amazing team of people, along with the cast and crew that turned into family, made our day so magical and one we will never forget.
Wedding Story
Phillip and I have been together for over 8 years now, so it was about time we made it official. We survived a pandemic together, a TV renovation show, raise two doggie babies, and work together full time on both Dazey LA and Dazey Den. We had planned on getting hitched last year, but then I landed my job on Trixie Motel. Little did we know this amazing opportunity would turn into a wedding too! If you watch our show Trixie Motel on Discovery+, you heard that we were supposed to get engaged at the same motel, previously the Coral Sands. This is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. As aforementioned, we have been together awhile, and I just knew Phillip was going to propose on my 30th bday. I wanted a funky and cute spot with a pretty backdrop to get those good engagement photos ;) Found the motel on Airbnb and tried to book, but to my dismay the previous owner Ruby Montana said she had sold the motel after 20 years of ownership. Little did we know something better was on the horizon. So we booked somewhere else for my birthday, got engaged, and more or less forgot about the Pink Palm Springs motel. A few months later I was contacted by a talent scout, tried out for the show, and landed the gig. When they sent me the show details I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw what motel it was! Little did I know it would end up being the place we got married. And never could have guessed I would have a TV wedding. Pretty damn magical!
Our wedding was in the middle of the pandemic, a TV show set, and planned pretty last minute. So we kept it tight with the cast, crew, and celebrity guests Gigi Gorgeous and Jonathan Bennett. Nevertheless it was a beautiful and special day that means so much to us. Plus having our dear friend and drag superstar Trixie Mattel officiate the wedding was pretty damn amazing. And as a surprise at the end of the wedding Trixie wrote and preformed a really beautiful song for Phillip and I that made me cry. Talk about a day to remember!
It was really important to have the wedding represent me as a designer. Nontraditional, colorful, unique, quirky, and elevated. Lucky for me I had already designed the entire venue LOL. I mean, it doesn't get better than being able to get married at a space you helped design that's exactly your vibe. I went with a sort of "tacky chic" feel. I really wanted it to feel like me, and wish more weddings tried to do this vs just going with what you are supposed to do or wear. I had been planning this on Pinterest already for awhile haha. Here's my board if you need some inspo too:
As a clothing designer it only made sense that I designed my own wedding look, from the print, dress, to the shoes! A white dress was basically against everything I stand for, so knew I had to make it colorful and have a print. I decided to go with something simple, playful, and pink. I loved the idea of having something kinda saucey and non-bridal, hence see-through fabric. Plus it was so Palm Springs to have a swim suit underneath. And that did come in handy as you can see below lol. I feel like the casual mesh fabric mixed with the frilly silhouette was just so perfect and felt spot on for a no-fuss fabulous wedding. Naturally I had to made it for Dazey LA too!
Trixie Motel Check- in, Lobby Lounge & Pool Reveal- Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! I began the designing and pre production on the show started in early 2021, and by fall we were breaking ground in Palm Springs. I lived in a hotel during filming with my fiancè and two dogs for almost 5 months. I was one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences of my life. And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
FINALE INSIDE SCOOP, DANI DAZEY'S YOUTUBE
Still can't believe the final episode is out and the whole motel is revealed! While it's sad that we have no more Trixie Motel Fridays, it's also really exciting that I can start sharing ALL my content. Because I got A LOT, and the sharing is just getting started. I just published my first episode recap of Trixie Motel on Youtube and starting with the Finale first to keep it fresh. I'll be going through every week starting back at Episode 1 and doing a room recap of each.
Lobby Love
The Lobby is my actual favorite room in the motel. It's really a grand room with beautiful details like the large fireplace and vaulted ceilings. The first design I pitched Trixie and David was more art deco and included blue and pink. David pointed out that it felt a little too "gender reveal" (true lol), and it was more Trixie to go all pink in the lobby. We hadn't really messed around with monochrome at this point, so I was down for the challenge. The one piece we knew was going to be in the room from the start was this amazing framed portrait of Trixie. It's mostly pink. but done have some other colors in it that I tried to tie back in with my custom wallpaper design. Otherwise this room is pretty damn pink! Playing with tones helps the monochrome make sense and while it's mostly one color, there's still a flow and highs and lows. I designed a custom banquette with a heart motif that turned out so pretty, but also functional. With brass outlets installed so you can charge your phone or work form the lobby. In the center of the room I tried to create a conversation pit area. I imagined 4 friends staying up late chatting with drinks by the fire. Speaking of drinks, we got the permits and were able to build a bar for the lobby! I had a lot of help from Phillip and our Art Dept producer Gregory Powell in making it a functional commercial kitchen/bar. But we also made it cute with custom tile and wallpaper accents. We really hit that goal of creating Trixie Mattel's Mid Century Modern living room!
Classy Checkin
More monochrome magic, but with a little mauve thrown in. We originally planned to go all blush here as well. But we weren't able to source the slabs I had in mind with our time crunch, David Rios discovered this really beautiful textured marble in mauve. We all loved it right away and I was determined to tie it in. I painted an arch in a similar color last min, swapped the drapes, added more mauve accents, accents, and we made it work. We also used a custom tile design I got to create since the space was smaller, but we wanted it to be special. I think it's such a happy welcome to the motel and screams Trixie Mattel.
Pool Please
The pool was our problem child all season and all renovation. Lots of back and forth about what to do and how to make it feel colorful and unique. I originally wanted to tile the whole deck and paint a mural in the pool, but I tend to be a little overly ambitious haha. We quickly realized this would be too costly and also illegal, thank you again Palm Springs city code. Apparently you can't paint a commercial pool anything but blue. But we've had to get creative this whole project and not only made it work, but made it marvelous. The painted concrete and rays really stand out and have a high impact. I tied in the pink and white stripe theme over and over through the pool tile lining, umbrellas, and towels. The aerial shots of this new pool deck give me life.
While our journey is over, it meant so much sharing this journey with you. Interacting with our audience has been amazing and brings me joy everyday. The journey is not yet over, because soon people will be experiencing the motel for themselves! I can't wait to see guests enjoying this special place. I think that will be the most fulfilling part of this whole process. I LOVE YOU ALL!
Thank you so much for watching Trixie Motel every Friday on Discovery+. If you are interested in any of the pieces in this room I have included links at the bottom of this page to the same (or similar) items so you can create your own spaces inspired by these designs :)

Trixie Motel Oh Honeymoon Suite Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! I lived in a hotel during filming with my fiancè and two dogs for almost 5 months. I was one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences of my life. And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
Here's our Oh Honeymoon suite! A bee and honey themed room, designed to be a retro sexy getaway for honeymooners. The design of this room I feel is the most applicable to everyday life. You could absolutely have a bedroom designed like this without it feeling like a theme motel. I really leaned into the retro and honeycomb feel with fun details like this "honey disco light". This is the biggest suite of the motel and the one with the most massive changes. From removing a closet to add a banquette, to totally ripping out and changing the footprint of the bathroom.
In the original motel this room was connected to the lobby and the owner actually used this as her bedroom. We ended up using the previous hallway space to expand the bathroom and create a true honeymoon dream setup, complete with two shower-heads and double vanity! We retiled the whole bathroom with hexagon shapes in the color scheme of the room.
The floor and ceilings of this room are just so special. I always say ceilings and floors are the most forgotten surfaces in design, and I wasn't going to let that happen at Trixie Motel. We ended up going with a classic linoleum floor, but made it feel fresh and fun by creating a zig zag pattern with the squares. This was such an affordable, durable, and beautiful solution to the floors.
The honeycomb walls were a wild idea I had from the start, and I'm so happy everyone was on board and we were able to make it happen. Special shout out to Marc from Total Design Furniture for brining my vision to life. These were wood panels that he padded and upholstered that we velco'd to the walls to create a channel tufting look, and also a bee-hive vibe. What's nice is they were easy to make and install, and can be swapped out individually if needed!
I love this room so much and it was also a very special episode where Trixie Mattel officiated Phillip and I's wedding :) don't worry, a whole separate blog post on that will be coming soon!
Be sure to continue to watch the rest of the room reveals on Trixie Motel every Friday on Discovery+. If you are interested in any of the pieces in this room I have included links at the bottom of this page to the same (or similar) items so you can create your own at home honeymoon suite :)

Trixie Motel Malibu Barbara Room Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! I lived in a hotel during filming with my fiancè and two dogs for almost 5 months. I was one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences of my life. And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
For this room I really wanted it to feel like you are at the beach even though in reality you are in the middle of the desert. Trixie and David showed me the color scheme of a vintage Malibu Barbie package for the inspiration. Punchy pastels that had that 80s/90s feel. The ocean inspired glossy blue floors and the giant palm tree & sunset wall mural that we used to create a "view" were the perfect start to making this space feel true to Malibu. I'm getting a lot of questions on these ocean-textured floors! It's the same epoxy process we've used in the other rooms, but this one was treated with an acid that gives it a "metallic" bowling ball texture. I definitely recommend reaching out to an epoxy floor specialist as the process can be tricky. But it's a more affordable way to get a cool floor and they're very durable!
Initially this room was supposed to have 2 bed to accommodate groups of friends staying together, but if we learned anything in this series it's that the city loves to spoil our plans! Because of space/fire ordinances we ended up having to go with one bed in this room. But that left space for a little desk area, credenza, and cute little chair moment. David Silver and I found an amazing vintage hanging chair, but again "safety" spoiled that one haha. Playing it safe and daring design do not go hand-in-hand I guess! But overall this room turned out SO cute and the perfect Malibu Barbie dream room.

Trixie Motel Flower Power Room Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
I am so thrilled to finally be sharing all the details about my personal favorite room that I got to design at the Trixie Motel. We went full on with the flower power print in this room and with the colors as well! The inspiration was Brady Brunch and 70s flower power, but I love that it also had a playful Y2K feel in the end. My first flower design Trixie didn't love for the wallpaper but great news is I got to use it for my clothing line instead (which means you all get to enjoy it too). I drew up a new design with more bold and simple daisy flowers and from there the team over at Astek Home went to work on the custom wallpaper. We also worked with Haustile, a women owned tile business who were an absolute dream to work with, to create the custom pink and white flower tiles used in the backsplash in the kitchen. Hint, I may have some special edition Dazey tile designs coming out with them soon ;)
A custom bed was a must for this room and Marc Nunez the owner of Total Design Furniture and his team were so easy to work with when it came to fixing the shape of the original headboard to create more of a true daisy petal shape. It absolutely turned out to be my dream bed. It's been SO fun to design every elements of these rooms, down to the furniture and fabrics.

Trixie Motel Atomic Bombshell Room Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
This room of the motel has hands down been the fan favorite of the season....so far! I really wanted to make this room feel like you truly were being transported (or abducted) into another world. We nailed down the technique for the fauxrazzo floors by using the paint made for epoxy and the glossy deep blue color really set the mood. It looks like a galaxy full of stars! I was thankful to have our friends Nicholas Scheppard and Jenson Titus from Very Gay Paint back to help us with the two different murals that we decided on for this room. With their help along with Trixie, my fiancé Phillip and myself the 4 of us (inside joke if you watched the episode haha) were able to knock these out pretty quick!
This room is a nod to Retrofuturism, an art and design trend in the 50's and 60's. It was basically how people in the past imaged how the future would look. Some people even dated their "Futuristic" art to be set in the 2000's, which does not quite look like today, unless you're in this room that is LOL. It was a mid-century take on space, and I love it. Think starbursts, galactic shapes/motifs, linear colored lines, and basically an overall Jetsons vibe.
As always we stuck with our favorites over at Total Design Furniture to build us the amazing circle bed and Astek Home to print the custom wallpaper that I designed.
I got to do another custom print for this room, and as you may have seen on the episode we scaled it too small. Scale is so important when it comes to print, and I'm usually used to doing clothing so there was a leaning curve. Luckily we were able to reprint larger and then save the smaller scale for the dressing room which looked fine! It was another embarrassing moment for me haha, but Trixie and the team were gracious and we made it work, plus more drama for the show ;)

Trixie Motel Yeehaw Cowgirl Room Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! I lived in a hotel during filming with my fiancè and two dogs for almost 5 months. I was one of the most difficult yet rewarding experiences of my life. And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
As a born and raised California girl I was so scared of getting this theme right! I didn't want it to feel too kitschy western or farmhouse. I wanted to make sure it felt fresh and new, but on theme. I love a challenge and welcomed it with open arms. In the end I think we really made, in the words of Trixie Mattel, a "California Cowgirl" room!
I had such blast putting a fun and colorful twist on this western inspired room. We kept the mural in this room simple but went bold with the color choice to make sure it still made a big impact. The print was just too good to not continue throughout the room so the upholstery on the rocking chairs and dining chair pillows got this same graphic which was the perfect way to tie all of the areas in this front room together. I created another custom graphic for the wallpaper made by Astek Home, and matched it with our bed linens and curtains. Seeing Trixie so excited about her face being in the wallpaper was probably my favorite part about this whole room reveal.
Our friends over at Total Design Co did such an incredible job making the custom horseshoe headboard from my rending I mocked up and it turned out even better than I could have dreamed! Concrete Collaborative came through with the terrazzo counter/bar top that was the perfect addition to the original leather bar that Trixie Mattel and Orville Peck made over with some leather paint. This was the easiest DIY project and it made such a huge impact in this room.

Trixie Motel Queen of Hearts Room Reveal - Designed by Dani Dazey
For the second room of the Trixie Motel went went full force with the theme of "Love" and had a lot of loving helpful hands bring this space to life.
My love of murals of course had to be featured once again but this time we got some extra help from our dear friends Nicholas Scheppard and Jenson Titus who make up the very talented duo known as Very Gay Paint who are not only amazing mural artists but also insanely talented comedians. We also had our good friends over at Mojo Glassworks step in again to create the colorful heart stained glass piece that you see in the bathroom.
Another amazing piece of this room is the original framed artwork by the fabulous drag queen and graphic designer Chorizo May who created art for each room in the motel (so be sure to keep your eye out for it!)
The focal point of this room has to be the hand tufted heart mirror by Tim Eads of Tuft The World that is hanging over the custom heart bed. It brings such a fun element to the room and I am sure it will be a favorite of any guests who stay here.
I hand drew some more custom wallpaper made by Astek Home to match with our custom bed linens and curtains and then continued the heart pattern onto the floor with the fauxrazzo. Now if you saw the show you saw that we ran into a bit of a problem with the floors but let me give you the full story of what went wrong and how we fixed it. For this room we were able to save the the few spots where the epoxy had eaten away at the concrete paint by redoing it and luckily didn't have many problem spots after that. We had used concrete paint and epoxy on Pink Flamingo and it turned out alright luckily too. But after seeing the damage that had happened in this room, we were not willing to roll the dice again, so had to pivot my plans for the other rooms. I was truly mortified and heartbroken when this happened and the design drama on the show is REALLY REAL. You may have seen this epoxy fleck flooring around in places like garages or commercial places, so I knew it was possible! What we learned is you need a special paint made just for epoxy that can withstand the harsh coat. The paint options available are pretty bleak, basically primary colors, but you can get them custom mixed at some places. We just didn't have the time for that. But we came up with an amazing solution for the other floors that you will have to wait and see :)
Be sure to continue to watch the rest of the room reveals on Trixie Motel every Friday on Discovery+. If you are interested in any of the pieces in this room I have included links at the bottom of this page to the same (or similar) items so you can create your own room of hearts fit for a queen!

Pink Flamingo Room Trixie Motel, Designed by Dani Dazey
This past year I went on the journey of my life as a designer and human being. I was chosen among hundreds of designers to design the Trixie Motel. A 7 bedroom motel in Palm Springs California, purchased by drag icon Trixie Mattel. Not only were we renovating and designing a run down motel, but the whole process was filmed and is now a TV show streaming on Discovery+! And now I finally get to share what we did with you all :)
Welcome to the first room at the Trixie Motel! For this room the goal was to embrace all that is Palm Springs so using the classic pink flamingo as our inspiration was the perfect starting point.
A cozy bed under an epic feather chandelier, a lounge area, wet bar, a fabulous dressing room and vintage bathroom, what more could you possibly want?
In order to really make this room one of a kind we had to add in some major custom moments. I hand drew the pattern for the wallpaper made byAstek Home, with matching bedding and curtains as well as the mural above the bed that took many hands, coats of paint and long hours but was 100% worth it and really is the focal point of the room. The custom Fireclay tile tables seen around the room were made using some extra tiles we had from the backsplash in the bar area which ended up being the perfect way to tie the two spaces together. Friends x Family a queer owned LA business did some custom builds including the dining table base and the dressing room cabinet. Last but definitely not least are the gorgeous stained glass windows made by Mojo Glassworks, a husband-wife small business that just knocked it out of the park bringing my design idea to life.
I hope you love this room as much as I do and continue to watch the rest of the room reveals on Trixie Motel every Friday on Discovery+.
